Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from my browser's built-in spellcheck?
Browser spellcheck only compares individual words against a dictionary. A grammar checker analyzes whole sentences, so it catches errors spellcheck can't — wrong homophones ("their" vs "there"), subject-verb disagreement, misplaced modifiers, and punctuation problems.
Does it support languages besides English?
Yes — several major languages including Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese are supported, each with its own grammatical rules and conjugation handling.
Will it catch every mistake?
No automated checker does. Rule-based checking is strong on mechanical errors (agreement, punctuation, common confusions) but weaker on style, tone, and ambiguous phrasing. Treat it as a fast first pass, not a replacement for a careful read of anything important.
Why does it flag things that are actually correct?
False positives happen — especially with proper nouns, technical jargon, intentional fragments, and creative writing. Each suggestion is exactly that: a suggestion. If you know the flagged phrasing is what you meant, keep it.
Is my text stored or used to train anything?
No. Your text is checked and immediately discarded — it isn't logged, stored, or used to train any models.

About This Utility
This tool is free to use and needs no account. It is built and maintained by Kumar, an independent developer, and funded by the ads shown on the page.
Unlike most tools on Mavertex, this one is not purely browser-based, and you should know that before you paste anything sensitive. Grammar analysis is performed by LanguageTool, an open-source service: when you press Check, the text in the box is sent to their public API and the suggestions are sent back. Mavertex does not store your text, but it does leave your device and is handled under LanguageTool's privacy policy rather than ours. Nothing is sent until you press the button, so you can type and edit freely beforehand. For details on our own data handling and third-party network usage (including AdSense), please review our Privacy Policy.
