Why Process Images in the Browser?

Traditional image tools send your files to remote servers. That creates privacy risks, upload delays, and file size limits. Browser-based processing eliminates all of that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images sent to your servers?

No. Compression, resizing, cropping, format conversion, colour picking, and OCR all happen locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. The Background Remover uses an on-device AI model that also runs locally — your images never leave your device.

What formats does the Image Compressor support?

The Image Compressor supports JPG, PNG, and WEBP — the three most common web image formats. You can adjust the compression quality and see a live before/after comparison.

How accurate is the OCR text extraction?

For clean, printed text in good lighting, accuracy is very high (95%+). Handwriting is harder — there is a separate handwriting mode that uses a dedicated model, but cursive and stylised scripts will still produce errors worth proofreading.

Can I remove the background from complex images?

The AI background remover works best on photos with clear subjects (people, products, animals) against distinct backgrounds. Complex, busy backgrounds with multiple overlapping objects may produce less clean cutouts.

What's the difference between compressing, resizing, and converting?

Compressing reduces file size while keeping the same dimensions. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions (and usually the file size with it). Converting changes the format — JPG to PNG, for example — without necessarily changing size or dimensions. If you are trying to meet an upload limit, start with compressing or resizing; if a site rejects your file type, convert it.

Which image format should I use?

JPG for photographs — smallest files, but no transparency. PNG for logos, screenshots, and anything needing a transparent background. WebP when you want small files with transparency support and only need modern browsers. If you are unsure, keeping the original format is a safe default.
